Description
Apple Dumplings [1] [2] are a sweet and warm breakfast treat, like an individual apple pie.
Ingredients
- 2 granny smith apples
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 canned buttermilk biscuits
- 4 tsp ground cinnamon
Procedures
- Warm oven to 375 degree F.
- Cut apples into 8 slices, peel, core and wash.
- Keep apple slices in water.
- Combine in a pan; the water, 3/4 cup sugar, butter and vanilla.
- Boil over medium heat.
- Break up biscuits for 2 layers.
- Place an apple slice in between a biscuit and place in casserole dish seam side down, until all apples are wrapped.
- Cover with hot sugar mixture.
- Combine remaining 1/4 cup sugar with cinnamon and layer on top of the dish.
- Bake for ~35 min, achieveing a golden brown colour.
