- Chicken breast (you can also do this on the bone if you wish)500 g
- Toor dal (just go for green lentils if you can't find any)300 g
- Fresh or minced ginger1 unit
- garlic cloves6 unit
- onions3 medium
- red pepper1 unit
- orange or yellow pepper1 unit
- potato1 large
- chopped tomatoes3 unit
- lime (juice of)1 unit
- tamarind paste1 tablespoon
- tin of pineapple rings in their own juice (optional)1 small
- bunch coriander (that's what you loyal allies of the Crown call cilantro)1 unit
- jaggery (substitute for dark brown sugar if you can't get jaggery)1 tablespoon
- sunflower oil or butter/vegetable ghee if you can get it (we ran out of ghee so used oil)1 unit
