Advocaat (lawyer or advocate) is a liquer which can be made at home from eggs, sugar, vanilla and pure alcohol or brandewijn (Dutch brandy). It can also be purchased commercially.

It becomes a thick light yellow egg nog which is usually enjoyed in the Christmas season and served in very small glasses garnished with whipped cream and eaten with a spoon.
