Recipient of 13 Golden Globe and 84 Emmy nominations, including five for Best TV Series (Drama), NYPD Blue is widely seen as one of many greatest primary time dramatic series in TV history. The show can be among the most controversial as well. Before its initial release in Fall 1993, NYPD Blue became the subject of a national controversy arising from its usage of strong language and improper visual scenes. A national debate was prompted by the series on which constitutes proper TV programming and whether government censorship must certanly be involved. All of this happened ahead of the first show actually aired! "Family values" attention groups attacked ABC for publishing the show, however when NYPD Blue proved it self to be mild by today's standards, the advertising only served to propel law enforcement drama series to the height of the Nielsen ratings, where it remained for twelve times

The NYPD Blue (Season 2) DVD features a amount of dramatic episodes like the time premiere "Trials & Tribulations" where Kelley's testimony on Licalsi's behalf causes an Interior Affairs investigation and Sipowicz tries to enlist the help of an abused woman (fearful of her husband) whose testimony is poorly needed. Meanwhile, Sipowicz's AA mentor wants him to agree to the boilerplate recovery deal before reconstituting his relationship with Sylvia Other significant episodes from Season 2 include "The Final Adjustment" in which Simone and Sipowicz examine a successful chiropractor suspected of murdering his wife, and "Bombs Away" in which the two detectives apprehend a Rumanian immigrant with a woman locked in his trunk and the man ends up to be always a fugitive terrorist
