Description
Tamarind Chutney [1] [2] this dish is an easy accompanyment to many different dishes in every part of India as it is both sweet and sour.
Ingredients
- 1 cup tamarind paste
- 2 cups water
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- ¼ tsp of dried ginger powder
- ¾ cup jaggery (brown sugar can be used as a substitute)
- salt, to taste
Procedures
- Combine tamarind paste, water and jaggery in a deep pan, let boil.
- Include salt, ginger powder and chili powder.
- Continue to boil over medium heat, achieveing a consistency that is thick like a sauce.
- Let stand to cool.
