Ingredients
- 8oz Self Raising flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 8oz rolled oats
- 4oz sugar
- 6oz black treacle
- 8oz butter/margarine
Procedure
- Put the butter or margarine, sugar and treacle into a saucepan and stir over a low heat until the fat and sugar have melted.
- Add the porridge oats, flour and baking powder and blend thoroughly.
- Press into two well greased 7" round sandwich tins.
- Bake in the centre of a moderate oven at 180c or 350f or gas mark 4 for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through (test with a skewer).
- Mark into slices whilst warm.
- Allow to become almost cold in the tin before removing.
